How Can We Make Finding Physician Coverage Easier?

Our LOCVM team is working with researchers at Toronto Metropolitan University on a study exploring how digital platforms can support locum coordination in primary care.

Finding physician coverage remains a challenge for many physicians across Canada. Whether it's for vacation, parental leave, professional development, or unexpected time away, securing locum coverage can be time-consuming and difficult.

We're looking for family physicians and family medicine residents to share their experiences and perspectives as part of this research.

Who Can Participate?

We are seeking:

• Family physicians
• Locum physicians
• Physicians practicing in urban or rural communities
• Physicians from any practice model
• Family medicine residents

What's Involved?

Participation includes:

• A short survey
• A virtual interview conducted over Zoom

Researchers are interested in understanding physicians' experiences with locum coverage, their views on digital solutions, and what would make finding coverage easier.

Your feedback will help inform future approaches to physician workforce sustainability, physician wellness, and access to care.
